GHSN and owner representatives from Hoa Lam Corporation presented the Hoa Lam International Hospital project at Hospital Design & Development Asia in Singapore. The conference, held March 29th and 30th, was attended by more than 80 planners, architects/designers, and owners representing prominent master planning projects. Countries represented included the United Kingdom, Qatar, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Canada, and Vietnam. Unlike other presentations, our topic focused on the “people” side of projects, notably how the owner and public hospital have come together in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to plan for the needs of patients in the Ho Chi Minh area of Vietnam.
There was a diverse group of presentations, ranging from massive new site master plans to replacement hospitals and hospital expansions. Interwoven within the facility designs were operational elements such as LEAN/3P, integration of patient and community input, and evidenced-based design considerations. Round table discussion of key topics took place in the afternoons and included topics such as infection control, optimizing patient flow in design, clinical best practices, forecasting design based on technology changes, and project management.
Additionally, Dr. Truong Long and I served on a panel discussion regarding “Delivering World-Class Projects Through 360-degree Stakeholder Alignment”, where the challenges and successes of stakeholder involvement were explored.
Overall the sessions, networking with professional colleagues, and the interchange of ideas provided a great opportunity for GHSN and Hoa Lam to share our expertise and insights, learn from others, and gain new friends.
